Brydon Hugo & Parker welcomes Brian H. Buddell and Karleen F. Murphy to the Partnership



Brian H. Buddell

Brian H. Buddell joined Brydon, Hugo & Parker in April of 2005.    Mr. Buddell has extensive experience in many areas of civil defense including: Products Liability, Premises Liability, Complex Personal Injury, Toxic Torts, Wrongful Death, Auto/Truck Casualty Claims, and Environmental Law. Mr. Buddell maintains and unblemished record of successful jury verdicts and has successfully defended his cleints in hundreds of arbitrations and dozens of trials throughout twenty-five of California's fifty-eight county Superior Courts.    He has also successfully defended appeals filed in the First and Third Districts of the California Court of Appeal and in the California Supreme Court. He came to Brydon Hugo & Parker after serving several years as Trial Counsel for a major U.S. insurance company where he recorded many of his favorable jury verdicts, including several in which plaintiffs sought multi-million dollar awards of damages.  Mr. Buddell is a frequent lecturer for organizations such as National Business Insitutute and he regularly presents instructional seminars on a variety of litigation-related topics including trial preparation and trial advocacy. Mr. Buddell received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Berkeley in 1990 and his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1993.    Mr. Buddell was admitted to the California Bar in 1993.    He is also licensed to practice in the Northern District of the United States District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.



Karleen F. Murphy

Karleen F. Murphy joined Brydon, Hugo & Parker in January of 2004.    She focuses on defense of product liability claims and also has experience in the areas of premises liability, employment law, environmental law, general tort claims and commercial litigation matters.    Ms. Murphy earned her B.A. in English from University of Washington in 1994 with honors from Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1998.    She was admitted to the California Bar in 1998 and the New York Bar in 2002.    While at Golden Gate, Ms. Murphy was the Senior Editor for the Law Review, Notes and Comments Journal.    In addition, she earned the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Civil Procedure II, the CALI Award for Excellent Achievement in Remedies and made the National Dean's List and Golden Gate University Dean's List.    She published an issue comment, A Hearsay Exception for Physical Abuse, 27 G.G.L.Rev. 497.
